Dr. Apaak Reaffirms Govt’s Commitment to Education, Roads & Culture at FEOK 2025

Deputy Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to education, infrastructure development, and cultural preservation at the climax of the 2025 FEOK Festival, held on 19 December 2025 in Sandema. He made these remarks when he joined chiefs and people of the Builsa Traditional Area for the annual cultural celebration.

Addressing the durbar, Dr. Apaak outlined concrete steps the government is taking to address the teacher deficit and improve educational infrastructure in Buluk. He disclosed that both Builsa North and South will benefit from 29 GETFund projects, including the construction of an ultra-modern District Education Directorate for Builsa South and expanded facilities at Kanjarga Senior High School, such as boys’ and girls’ dormitories, a dining hall and kitchen, and staff accommodation.

He further announced that the ongoing transfer of agricultural colleges to the Ministry of Education has opened the door for the establishment of an Agricultural College in Builsa South, a campaign promise by President John Dramani Mahama. According to Dr. Apaak, the proposed institution will equip young people with practical skills, boost agricultural productivity, and create new opportunities in agribusiness across the Upper East Region. He also confirmed that plans are far advanced to establish a Farmer’s Service Centre in Builsa South.

On cultural and language preservation, Dr. Apaak was emphatic about the need to include Buli in Ghana’s educational curriculum, stressing that language is the foundation of culture and effective learning. “When education is rooted in identity, progress becomes sustainable,” he said, noting that the initiative will improve literacy, preserve culture, and strengthen learning outcomes for children in the area.

Touching on infrastructure, the Deputy Minister assured the gathering of the government’s commitment to completing key roads in the enclave, including the Chuchuliga–Sandema–Wiaga–Fumbisi–Wiesi road, the Sandema–Doninga road, and the rehabilitation of feeder roads. He commended the Builsa Traditional Council and the 2025 FEOK Planning Committee for a successful festival, urging the people to remain united and proud of their heritage as they work together for the development of Buluk.
