Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang Badu believes Carlos Queiroz has the experience and technical ability to bring out the best in the Black Stars.
The Portuguese coach has returned to the Ghana national team setup after the Black Stars' impressive campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Ghana progressed to the knockout stage for the first time since 2010.
Badu believes Queiroz's familiarity with the team, combined with his extensive experience at international level, could help Ghana regain its position among Africa's leading football nations.
According to the former midfielder, the coach already has a better understanding of the squad following his previous involvement with the team and should now be able to identify the players best suited to his plans.
“He did a great job in the small time he had with them before the World Cup,” Badu said.
“He now knows this team much better and can figure out which players he will need in camp.”
Badu also called on the Ghana Football Association, the players and supporters to give Queiroz the necessary backing as he begins his latest assignment with the national team.
He believes the coach will have to deal with significant expectations but has the experience required to handle the pressure.
“We need to support him. We don’t have time, and he understands the pressure that this job comes with,” he added.
“But based on his experience, I believe he can soak up the pressure and get the best out of the guys.”
Queiroz's immediate focus will be on Ghana's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
The Black Stars are scheduled to open their campaign away against Côte d’Ivoire on September 24, 2026, before hosting The Gambia in Accra five days later.
With the AFCON qualifiers coming quickly after the World Cup campaign, Queiroz will have limited time to prepare the team and establish his plans.
Badu's comments come as expectations remain high around the Black Stars, with the team hoping to build on its World Cup progress and produce a strong showing in the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.
The former Ghana international's backing highlights the importance of giving the coach stability and support as he works to shape the team for the challenges ahead.
