Nigerian singer, Iyanya, has revealed how he has managed to stay famous for 17 years.
Speaking on a recent Afropolitan show, the singer revealed that being in the public eye has put him in a difficult position.
He claimed that fame without a mentor is “fake,” stressing that every entertainer or celebrity needs a mentor to use their fame effectively.
I was able to be famous for 17 years because of a mentor. I advised my younger self not to take things personally because every celebrity or entertainer needs a mentor.
“You need one, two or three people in your life to help you stay healthy because everything happens so fast and none of them are real.
You will walk into the office of the President, he will know your name, he will sing your song, but it is not real.
That person if you are not famous after two or three years, he will not remember you. They will remind him of your meeting with him,” he said.
Iyanya advised others to embrace leadership and seek advice from people in their lives.
He stressed that such people will guide them and provide them with moral support at every stage of their lives.
